Zylight LED F* or Nila VArsa or no LED at all?

Dear Folks,

I am on the verge of buying light, as a one man's band I don't really know whether to buy one of the above listed. I am also a photographer and very much used to working with mobile light, without the need of power coming out of the wall. I really like the liberty of working with battery charged equipment. Because I also want 5600 K, I do not really have much choice other than the Nila Varsa (really rugged) or the Zylight F8, that has the advantage of the 'one light' Fresnel, downside is that I havn't had the opportunity yet to see this piece in real life.

Any advice on this would be welcome, I live in the Netherlands by the way.

Last but not least, most of my work is under very different conditions, it can either be in a dull office, but also in a farm or, well, anyplace.

Zylight is extremely pricy on their accessories. so you have to buy something that has built in battery slot option

money is not so much an issue. I only need the light/vmount/barndoors, so it's a one time deal. the thing is that I need the best light I can get, running on batteries

The Varsa is a hard punch light with holographic etched lens plates to control the beam. The Zylight is a fresnel lens focusing light. For brightest punch the Nila easily overpowers the Zylight. For control of the light projection the Zylight is far better than the Nila.

It really depends on what is important to you.

thanks Mitch, for your reply.

The reason I want to buy one of them is because I need a front light for, mainly interviews. I have a Felloni LED that I use for backlight (shoulders and hair).
I work as a photographer and in many situations I bounce my flashlight, I do a lot of work in odd circumstances (e.g. pigs/offices/factory's/etc.) and have to work quite fast.
I'm probably not the best crafstman in the world, but I know my 'signature' is working fast in difficult situations and being able to get good results.

I want a lot of LUX (and Vmount) and reliable colour. Nila would be used as a bouncer or through my transparent frame. same as the Zylight F8, although I must say that I was impressed with the colourless edges of that light, offcourse there's also the one shadow advantage of the Zylight.

Hard choice, also considering that I can't try a Zylight, it's not available yet in the Netherlands, I can wait if necessary.

Hello Lealain. I was curious if you purchased a Nila light? I am looking at either the Varsa or Boxer and wanted to know what you thought if you did indeed buy one. Thanks.
