Okay, all I have is Premiere 6.0 -- not Pro, and I don't have After Effects. I do have PhotoShop, but have no skills at all in using it. I need to be able to do this effect in Premiere if at all possible.
I'm doing a music video. My client wants a shot of an old TV lying in a ditch, with video of the band playing on the TV screen. No problem. I shot the TV and captured a frame from the footage, as a BMP. Created a green rounded rectangle mask with black background in PhotoShop. The green rectangle is the right size and angle to match the tilted angle of the TV screen, and I managed to figure out how to feather the edges a bit to make the composite blend better.
Find and dandy. Composited the BMP with the band footage. Made the band clip B&W and cut down on the contrast, and the finished image looks pretty good. With me so far?
Okay, NOW the client wants that image of the band to come up off the TV screen and zoom out to full-screen size. Since the TV-screen image is angled, this will require not only zooming but also rotation of the image in the process. And this is where things start getting beyond my abilities.
Best I've been able to do so far is a bit involved. I have the composited band/TV image dissolve into what's essentially a very similar looking overlay -- by adjusting the corner handles in the Sample window under the Transparency setting. Of course, this gives the superimposed band video a hard, square edge, but it's the best I can do. I then use the Camera View effect coupled with the Motion effect to make the band video zoom and rotate out to full screen.
This all works, but it looks pretty cheesy. I know what my client wants to see is basically the created TV image more or less peeling off the TV screen and zooming up to full-screen in a nice, smooth, professional-looking effect. But so far I'm having a lot of trouble making that happen.
Anybody got any ideas? And please -- talk to me like I'm an amateur.
Thanks!
