Zoom lens question...

So for the sake of my still photography purposes, I've been saving to buy a 70-200mm f2.8 zoom. I've been figuring also, that any lens I purchase should be something usable by both my D80 AND my LEX.

My concern is that it would be too darn heavy for the LEX, that it's awkward weight would put excessive strain on both the LEX, and my DVX, and maybe even the rails. It has a 77mm front thread, is nearly 7 1/2 inches long, and weighs about 48oz (3 lbs.).

Does anyone have any personal experience with this? Or simply thoughts in general.

Thanks.

(P.S. If anyone was going to comment on the non-manually adjustable iris of this lens, don't worry, the couple I'm looking at are a little older and have an optional manual iris, so please don't comment on that, thanks. And if you could avoid any inappropriate innuendo regarding the whole "77mm thick and 7 1/2 inches long" it'd be appreciated. Grazi. )

Great lens if you're talking about the 2.8d with internal focussing and constant aperture. It's super sharp. Your adapter will need to be well supported but I haven't used anything other than that in our testing with the Brevis. I haven't seen the LEX lens mount, but if there's any doubt, support the lens with a longer set of rails.
