Zoom H6 with NTG-3, AT4053b, DPA 4080 & Senn G3 kit mic

Hi guys... Im by no means an audio professional and I do advocate using a proper sound guy whenever possible.

However as reality is... We dont always have the budget for that.

The following "test" is by no means scientific. Its nothing more than an in use test of different setups.

The Rode is a shotgun, so it's highly directional and in your demo it's not pointed at the source (your mouth) so it's getting more off-axis and less on-axis.

When you start cranking the gain on your H6-AT4053 combo I'd be willing to bet that most of the noise you're getting is ambient rather than self-noise from the H6 preamps.
