Zoom H6 line out into Canon SL2 or Nikon D750 mic input -20db?

I will be using a borrowed Zoom H6 this weekend.

I was going to run the line out from the Zoom H6 into either a Canon SL2 or a Nikon D750.

I was going to go into either camera's 3.5mm mic jack.

I imagine the line out from the Zoom H6 is too hot for a mic in.

On the Zoom H6, you can adjust the line out in -5db increments up to -30db.

I thought most of these cheaper DSLR mic inputs are -20db.

So I was going to reduce the Zoom H6's line out to -20db.

Does the above make sense?

In a broader sense, does anyone have any Zoom H6 tips?

Thanks in advance.

Stay well.

If you are stuck, try picking up a headphone extension cable with a volume control. I got one, IIRC made by Koss, a few years ago, at Big Lots, and used it once to go from a Sound Devices MixPre to a Canon camcorder. Worked fine
