Zoom H4n Rechargeable Batteries

Hey guys just a quick question, can the zoom h4n use rechargeable batteries? I think it will be a cost effective solution in the future if possible.

thank you
:)

I run them on mine. I think it has a setting for them i the settings menu as well.

In your experience, how would you compare the battery life of the rechargeables with a regular battery? I never bothered trying them because I'd read that they don't last nearly as long, and with the Zoom's voracious battery appetite decided to steer clear of rechargeables.

On mine the "power gage" goes down right away like the batteries are draining really fast. But, I used it to record audio at a party and they recorded the entire time and still had juice when I shut it off. Here is the duration times of the files I recorded that night:

1:36:38
00:2:35
00:23:50
02:33:25

So there's like 4.5 hours of constant recording time at that one event. Like I said, it still was recording fine when I shut it off but the gage said the batteries were drained very early in the recording. So the gage did not reflect the actual length of battery life.

Interesting...thanks for those figures. Not too shabby. What settings were you using?

I'd need to fool around with that a lot before trusting that the gauge just wasn't being accurate and counting on having more juice available only to then maybe need to stop and change batteries in the middle of something important.

Does your gauge do the same with non-rechargeables?
