Have been thinking of making my carrying own Pouch for the Zoom h4n.
I figured it should have a strap that's worn round the neck and can be operated by one hand.
I reckon it should also have the option of being able to be clipped to a belt.
any thoughts or ideas please chime in.

you should be able to clip 2x wireless receivers to it! The pain of not being able to do that keeps me using my edirol r-4 instead of buying an h4n.

Not quite what you are asking for but may put you on the right track.

For my P&S camera I use a blackberry case to carry it. Specifically a Chaps BB case I bought for 1.50 at Target. It has a hole in the bottom that I string a lanyard through that is tied to the wrist strap. What it does is it allows me to carry my P&S camera around my neck and be protected by the case like a holster. What keeps it in place inside of the case when it's hanging around my neck is one of the push-button thingys (technical talk, i know) that come on the drawstrings of your jacket. You can pick them up at sporting good stores. I slide it down to hold it in place. Then slide it up and the camera slide out of it's holster pretty easy. The case that i have does not have a belt clip but I have seen ones that do. I've also used some of the camera or phone holders that i find on clearance at Target or Office Depot or the like that do have a belt clip.

I'm sure there are tons of different cases you could try out/modify on amazon or ebay. Google chaps blackberry sleeve to see what i am talking about. The one i have is black. In the picture i have seen you cant tell there is a hole in the bottom. Probably wouldn't fit a H4N though.
