Zoom H4n blank file issue

new to the zoom but pretty sure I have a good handle on it. From the start i've noticed that 1 out of 20 or so audio clips are "empty" when I download onto my computer. I know we hit record and and watched the timecode roll but the file is empty aside from a few bytes.

Curious if this is a card issue or something with the Zoom itself. Don't have the unit with me at the moment but fairly sure the card is a kingston 8gb and was not very cheap.
 
are you exporting in the same file type as when you recorded? I did this by accident when I recorded in 4CH but was exporting in another format and it registered empty.
 
This can happen if you lose power before you hit stop or you use a SD card the H4n does not like. It happens when I use my 8 gig card but not my 4 gig card. Neither of them are on the Zoom blessed list of cards, but it happens every other time I tried my 8 gig card. I have about 50 hours on my H4n and only issue has been when lose power or use 8 gig card.

Hmm. I think both of these could be the case. I'll have to check my card to see if its on the blessed list. thanks!
