Zoom H2 / other field recorders

I don't like the H2 really.

My short-list was the Olympus LS-10, the Edirol R-9HR and the Sony PCM-D50.

.

I got the Sony D50 about a month ago, and it's a brilliant piece of gear.
Sound is amazing with onboard mics, and batteries last forever. To use external mics, it would be best to run them through a mixer.
I don't think you could go wrong with this choice.

Best,
Bert

Talking to others, they seem to agree with my short-list.

I eventually went for the Olympus.

(I *do* have pro recorders like the Fostex FR-2 and Nagra VI as well, though).

Hello, John.

I'm seriously considering buying one myself.

I have a couple of questions for you.

1. Do you know if this recorder works well with lavs?

2. How many channels can you record simultaneously?

Thanks,

Trey

The LS-10 is a stereo machine - yes, it does seem to work OK with lavs.

I have not used it with lavs in anger, but I grabbed an ME2 from a G2 radio system and plugged it straight into the LS-10 and it worked fine - so making a Y-cable for stereo and plugging in two should work perfectly.
