zoom h1 vs h4n for line in recording

I generally run my shotgun into a mackie 1202 mixer and split the feed to cameras. I would like to add a digital recorder to add the option of not cabling to camera if I want to move, steadicam, dolly etc. and just clap sync. When using line-in would the h1 be adequate for this use? The price is right and would certainly be nice for going out and grabbing sfx tracks. I know the h4n has the advantage of xlr in for freeing the sound man, but I would typically still use the mixer.

Would the 1/8" mic input be at least as good as consumer cameras If I wanted to boom directly into the h1 in a pinch?
