Just curious if anyone has any suggestions on what settings I should use on the Zoom H1 in a live electronic dance music setting? Its going to be loud with a lot of bass and indoors. Ive never used the H1, and Im a complete audio noob, Ive only ever used the audio from my cameras. Any suggestions? Tips? The H1 should be at my doorstep tomorrow and then I have to leave for the event, wont have time to mess with it.

Thanks

Record in WAV file format, NOT MP3, at 24bit, 48kHz. Beyond that, lots of luck. Read the manual online before the recorder arrives.

Beyond that can't help ya as I haven't used one. Record sound in your camera for backup. The way you've set yourself up by not leaving time to learn the equipment and test it thoroughly before you need to use it makes for a recipe for disaster. Frankly I don't anticpate good results from a marginal recorder in a difficult environment in the hands of an inexperienced user. Hopefully this is purely a practice shoot and not for any serious purpose.

Keep it turned down low, and if it has a pad - engage it. It would be better to get a line out from the DJ going direct into the line-in of the H1, then use the camera audio for any crowd sound.
