zoom h1 corrupt file - can I recover?

hi all I had an issue with a zoom H1 memory card when I plugged it into my pc via card reader. It saw both files on the card but when I tried to copy and paste I got an error stating they were corrupt or unreadable.

When I removed and plugged in the card reader I was asked if I wanted to scan and fix or continue anyway (something I often see with large external drives but rarely with these memory cards) I clicked scan and fix and it went through a short process in which it REMOVED the corrupt file, allowing me to copy the 2nd file off of the card which is now safe and sound, but is the first file (no longer showing on the card) gone forever? I haven't formatted it or put it onto a recorder to record more onto the card, and I'll not do so until I get an idea of (hopefully!) a solution on this thread.

Thanks very much

Prior to recording, make sure the card is formatted in the recorder to be used.... this will not help after the fact though and would permanently delete all data previously on the card.. corrupt or not.
I normally recover 'unreadable' or 'problem' files using Piriform's 'Recuva'. http://www.piriform.com/recuva

There are several soft that allows recuperation/salvage of corrupted files. I used RescuePRO twice with success. It obviously depends on the kind of corruption you are facing. A Google search with 'sandisk card recovery app' brings an assortment of soft from various vendors, and some free or with a trial period. For the free Sandisk app (i don't know if it works only with the cards of brand) you can download it from:

Since it is free, I would suggest you try this one first.
You may want to make a copy of your card before trying anything. Just in case...

thanks guys will give both of these a try. I tried some digital image recovery software but I suspect (as they name suggests) it was just for photos. i'll post back my results

i dont think it is free. once it finishes the scan and finds the files (it doesnt find the lost file anyway) it then asks you pay and activate to recover the files
