Is the ZOE Zoom Controller still the controller of choice? I need to get one that I can attach to my DVrig Pro.

I just noticed that they are 2 different kinds of ZOE zoom controllers out for the DVX. Which is the better one?

I have tested the one with the " zoom speed pre set" during NAB. If this is one of the options, Get it. It is the best of all available controlers.
You will have to insert a piece of plastic between the ZOE and the grips foam, so the Rocker switch will not tuch the soft grips.

I love my Bogen/Manfrotto Zoom controller, http://www.evsonline.com/merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=EVS&Product_Code=522P though a little pricy ...the digital zoom is and excelent feature allowing you to custom set speeds and positions of ure zoom...telescoping handle....runs on 3AA batteries for digital mode but analog needs no power...

So Danny your saying that the DVrig pro's grips are too thick for a zoom controller to fit onto properly? Where would I find this plastic you are referring to? Hardware store I suppose?

It is no big deal and the issue is with the Zoe only.
Mail me when you get one, You will see the problem and find
a solution yourself, You can use one of your business cards,
wrap it on the grip and attach the remote on it ,so the soft sponge will not touch the zoom rocker switch.

Is it just my eyes or is Varizoom, http://www.varizoom.com/controllers/stealthdvx.php at the bottom of this page, talking about a remote with manual focus coming soon ?
Then I bet that's the one to get ?

I know that Panny's jack ain't a LANC, so does that mean there's no possible remote focus possible at all ? Sorry, I'm not good at electronics and electrical engineering.

What about the Varizoom? I expect that the Zoe is the best built, but both it anf the Bogen 522P appear to have the record/stop buttons dangerously close to the thumb. The Varizoom looks safer in this respect.
Anyone having problems accidentally hitting the Record/stop buttons on the Bogen or Zoe?

My Zoe DVX arrived today from EVS. That is a nice Zoom Controller! You can adjust the speed of the zoom before you actually perform the zoom, which bypasses that little zoom glitch that is evident on our cameras. I was able to press the lever and go right into my zoom without it hesitating. At the moment, I have it attached to the DVRig Pro.
