Zoom Commander

ya, but I have read there are some feature that are really nice on it, like you can program a zoom into (I think). I have heard people say it looks cheesy but fashion has never been a question of user-ability and functionality to me.

Hey, the 80s brought out some of the most cheesy and aesthetically unpleasing things, but they are still around today, so that is always something I think about.

Yes, if it works with the DVX100B, it should also work with the HVX200 -- the Varizoom lens controllers work with the DVX and HVX. I'd contact the seller to be shure.

For the price, it is nice, the big advantage is if you have a rocker, you can accelerate and decelerate when zooming, with the zoom commander, you have presets.

I guess the question is now, lets say your zooming out and holding the zoom out button, can you change the dial (which is the speed of the zoom) while holding down the zoom out button?

If so, then this is a viable cheap solution which in a degree, can be more user friendly since you can see where your dialing the dial down and easier on the fingers.

Ram S.O.S, you were able to do the variable zoom (changing the speed of the zoom) while holding down the zoom in/out buttons? Also, your using it with the hvx200?

I emailed sign video waiting for a reply on both questions, want to be sure.

If so, this seems like a better plan than the rocker cause I personally think it would have more control over the speed, since your always fiddling with the rockers position to find the same speed every time.

For the price, it makes sense to me. The varizoom is kind of pricey so this seems like a very good alternative for the hvx200.

It's not a variable speed controller like a rocker, I don't think it's pressure sensitive, but it has a set of controls to manually set your zoom speed in and out. The good thing for me is there is no guessing and it's repeatable very easily, although I do see the value in a variable speed rocker. You should think of it the way you would think of the zoom control on the handle of the HVX. I originally purchased the zoom commander for my DVX but I have tried it with my HVX and it works the same.

Come to think of it you could use it as a variable speed controller if you turned the speed knob while zooming, I wouldn't though.

Your a nut, I was asking originally if you could use the knobs as a variable speed control if you read my above post.

I have confirmation though that you can do this and this is one reason they designed it with the knobs and not a rocker.

Thank you for your interest in our products.

The HVX200 is not a camera we have tested, nor am I familiar with it. I did
go to the Panasonic website though and tried to discern whether or not it
has a LANC port. It looks like it does. Can you confirm this for me? If it
does I assume it will work fine, but I just can't give you a definitive
answer. Sorry.

We do also offer 30-day money back, so if you want to try it out you can do
so. If you find that it isn't what you want, for any reason, you can return
it.

In response to your question regarding the variable speed, yes the speed can
be adjusted while holding the button down and turning the dial.

In designing the Zoom Commander line we felt the same way you do, in that a
rocker switch is much harder to control and it is easy to get distracted.

Maybe a cashew, or a hazlenut, so it is a good thing. Thats weird, I just noticed that cashew is one of the few nuts that does not have nut in it, like pea*nut* or hazle*nut*. weird...
