Zombie question

OK - I know I'm gonna catch a load of crap from a few of you (John...) but I have zombie question.
I just watched Dawn of the Dead for the first time a couple of nights ago. I've seen Night of the Living Dead and recently saw Shaun of the Dead as well. That's my knowledge of zombies.
So my question is this: When did they start moving so FREAKIN fast?

I was blown away the other night watching Dawn and seeing these zombies running faster than the living and even faster than the shuttle buses it seems.

Good point about the running out of breath part.
So was 28 days later made before Dawn? Just trying to figure out when they started kickin it.
I haven't seen 28 days Later. Wasn't that shot with the Canon XL-1 or 2?

Yeah 28 Days Later was shot on some XL-1s (with cine-lens) and was before the Dawn remake.

One of the movies (I can't remember which) tried to explain the stages of decomposition tells you how "quick" they'll be. Something.

If I recall, the amputee in Dawn that chases them into the mall is actually a marathon runner (in "real life") so he was sick fast.

No no no

The Return of the Living Dead is when they went into sprint mode. (Great film Sirius! You must go rent this one too!)

Some people consider 28 Days Later not to be a zombie film since they are not Zombies but infected with a Rage. I personally wlecome it to the genre; its freaky.

So how many "Dead" movies have there been? I know Night was first and Dawn was last ...right?

I prefer Shaun's zombies. I'd even be willing to take those on. I've got some old LP's just waiting to be tossed. I've got three copies of the "Moonlighting TV series" soundtrack on LP.

Don't ask... I worked at an ABC affiliate for a while.....

You didn't recommend the original 1978 "Dawn of the Dead."

Anyway, I'd recommend:

GAR's Dead Trilogy (Night, Dawn, Day)
Zombi 2 (Zombie)
City of the Living Dead
Return of the Living Dead (only the first one)

At least, for now...

(As for first zombie movie to feature running zombies, that award belongs to Return of the Living Dead)
