went to the bar last night (where i do my most productive reading), ordered a guinness (a good reading aid), opened my backpack (typically contains my reading), only to find i had forgotten to bring the damn book (right now I'm working on "Who The Devil Made It" by Peter Bogdanovich (highly-recommended))!!
So i walked across the street to a bookstore to grab a magazine and came across this: Zoetrope: All Story. I had never heard of it before but i guess they've been making it since 97 and its won all kinds of awards. Its a collection of short fiction that comes out every quarter kind of like a high school literary review. Only way better. This issue has a great story by Miranda July who wrote and directed Me, You, and Everyone We Know (also highly recommended) and a short film called Are You The Favorite Person Of Anybody (go search for it on YouTube right now).
Anyway, if you dig good short stories and crazy visual art (they hire a different designer for each issue (past designers: David Byrne, Julian Schnabel...)) then go check this magazine out. I love it!
