I'm wondering if anyone else using the ZOE-DVX zoom controller on the HVX has had any intermittency with the connector? Mine started acting up within a week of buying the Camera and Controller.. on the first day of the first job, basically.. of course!
They both went to Pana's Service Ctr in Secaucus, where the techs said the controller did the same thing on four cam's in the shop. They felt the plug was too small, and said there was no problem with the jack.
I'd be surprised if the premolded plug is to blame. How off can the tolerances be on such a standard size?.. and it's too new to have a broken lead inside.
It's a little irritating to have to depend on such small connectors for these daily-used functions. I'm always going to be nervous using those 4-pin 1394 connectors, having had two die on me, leaving some very nice little cameras isolated from the NLE world.
Appreciate your thoughts / experiences. I've been pretty impressed with Bebob's Engineering in general. The Foxi is great.. so I hope I can resolve this.
(Of course, I'm also building a DC ZoomControl that will try to Run the zoom directly from an extension arm on the Zoom-Screw, mounting off the Hotshoe.. since /NONE/ of the Lanc Controllers have ever really given me a totally usable 'creep'. Thank God this camera Has the disengagable Zoom-motor!)
