Zeppelin vs Rycote Windshield Kit

I am using Rycote Softie for my ME66. It was ok until I used it to record the wave sound at the seashore, so I need to upgrade.
My sale woman recommend Rycote Windshield, but I found out K-tek Zeppelin, also.
Any experts here have used these two devices? Any experience can be shared with me, please?
Thanks.

I got mine second hand for 250 or so I think. Maybe 225, I really dont remember. Seems like the go for around 300 at trew.

I've use Rycote since '96 and still use the original one and I've got 2 more since then (one for long shotgun and schopes) I'm just now having problems with the original I think because of age and abuse, but I've used it everywhere and in every condition, from deserts, jungles, hurricanes, to frozen conditions. It's well made it's money back for me.

no... it's plastic...
it's just hard to tell on the rycote picture seeing as it's grey

I have two OLD original Rycote zeps for Schoeps. These were used on Blue Velvet and many other films lots of use. When I got them the catches were broken on one (the OLD style used a catch rather than the twist lock that they use now) and I had to fix that. Other than the catch they both work fine and haven't had any other issues.
They cost a bunch new but they last a LONG time. I suspect that the K-Tek will also have a long life. The big diference as I understand it is the K-Tek ones have to have the dead cat on them always since there is no covering on the internal mesh. I almost never use them with out the fur anyway so it probably doesn't make much difference. When I buy one next I might well get a K-Tek.

thank you for all you guys' valuable inputs, and my final decision is.......
K-tek
I ordered already, and keep my fingers cross. I hope it serve my purposes well.
Thanks a lot.

the new rycote is way better/different than the "old" or traditional zeppelin...

i have and have had both ktek and rycote zeppelins and softies and the new rycote grey thing system is amazing!

i have heard good things about the new ktek system as well but the rycote was the one that i was able to get hands on experience with.

it is a modular system and it goes together quickly and simply...

one of the zeppelins i had would never stay together...i ordered the newest rycote grey thing the minute i got my hands on a very early production model.

they have nice extensions for it and they have added a heavy wind cover that wasn't initially available when the new kit came out.
