I have used Sigma, Nikon, and Zeiss interchangeably before without issues. very slight color correction possibly but nothing extraordinary. Bokeh can change depending on lens used though - my angenieux looks different from my nikon stuff.
I have always discounted "windowed" designs due to my background in cine lenses and extensive witness marks for the AC. I guess I will give this 17-35 a try. I have nikon 16mm up to 35mm in the wide department, Zeiss ZF 25 and 35, and 16-35 contax and none of them satisfy me in the sharpness department beyond 6ft or so.
