Is the 1.4f 50mm really cheaper than the 2.0f?
I honestly have found that searching.

See what I was wondering -then- was if it would be better to get the 2.0f 50mm to save some $ and have the same f stop on the 35mm and eventually but the 1.4f 50mm is WAY cheaper?! I guess I can stop down the 1.4f and match or closely match the 2.0f...? $517 cheaper which is the same as the 1.4f 50 and a dollar more... HALF and one more as a statement. What do?

Is there an iris setting in the 1.4f that is exactly the 2.f at full open...
and which is truly sharper, at 1.4 is is the same as the 2f at 2f? Or do they perform the same at 2f?

And is the 100mm a better buy than the 85mm? Go longer of shorter for $500 more... ?

Okay... the 1.4 50mm is a standard planar lens. The 2.0 50mm is a marko-planar lens. It is a macro lens for only close up photography. You're paying extra for that capability.

Mostlikely you will have few uses for a macro lens, buy the 1.4 50mm and save your money!

oh, so it is just the distance at which it can be focused... the 50 can be focused closer... well the 35 can get pretty close too, so no need for the 50 to do that too, it might come in handy at times but like you guys said it will seldom be used like so
