hello guys, i am going to buy zeiss compact prime for my Letus DOF adapter, i wonder does anyone use these lenses? what is negative and positive sides of these lenses?

thank you

They are re-barreled versions of the ZF/ZS primes they sell for SLR's.
They are HUGE in size, just like all cinema lenses are, 114mm diameter, with normal follow focus pitch. They just weigh less than the ultra or the master primes series, and have less choices of focal lengths. They still weigh enough that you'll need support, and if a shot is static (no focus racks) you'd get the same kind of picture from them with your adapter as you would with the Zeiss ZF/ZS lenses. They have additional aperture blades 14 instead of 9 to make the stop-down more circular and bokeh (out of focus portion) look more pleasing.

Now I'm not going to talk you out of spending 27,000USD on glass, since you could use them on another camera and its a wise investment, but do share what your current setup it.

DJDecay thank you :) have you used these lens or not? i am going buy 4 primes for 16 000$ can i buy some other prime lenses for this price or may be a litle bit more?

$4000 per lens is pretty cheap for cine lenses, wherever you got that quote it's a pretty good deal. You probably won't find a better deal for NEW cine lenses per lens unless you buy the complete set of red prime pros for $19000. Either way, it's a lot of cash to burn though.

No I've not used it, I've used its heavier cousins and their ZF counterparts with 9 elements. Compared to 35mm primes for still cameras for your 35mm DOF adapter those things are HUGE and HEAVY, mostly metal not glass. 16,000 is a very good price for them.

if these lenses are the same as ZF why there is such big diference between price? JUST for PLmount and construction?

Yes, the lens barrel diameter is identical with each, so when you change lenses you don't have to worry about moving accessories around to fit. The movement is longer and 14 aperature blades are used. The lens element layout is identical to the ZF/ZS prime set (Distagon/Pancolar etc..).

The Zeiss lens focus ring always moves in the cine lens direction to infinity, while fully closed on the aperature is always in the opposite direction of infinity. So while if you have a RED or an F23 and are in a 35mm like shooting environment they will definitely help with handheld and steadicam configuration (lighter), sticking one onto a 35mm DOF adapter and a HVX200 could be less beneficial.

This is a useful video to let you see just how large these things are.

As you can see from this clip, the camera is actually elevated higher by the adapter to compensate for the huge diameter of the lens outer barrel ring.

i am going to use these lenes with XDCAM F350+Letus adapter with relay lens. i dont know exactly buy or not his compact primes?
