Zaxcom ZFR200 and IFB200 audio setup

Hi guys and gals,

I've been wanting to put lav mics on actors, record directly on a body pack and rather than transmit the recording, just transmit audio monitoring / control for a long time.

The Zaxcom ZFR200 with an IFB200 seems great, but I can't get my head around whether the IFB200 is supposed to go into something else, or whether it can be used standalone. To be clear, I'm not talking about referencing into a camera, using a mixer, or anything else. I want ZFR200's to record on the actors, and for the single crew operator to use the IFB to set the ZFR's recording and monitor the levels / bumps and wind noise.

Would this work? Is there a better alternative?

Thank you,

It's a great system and yes, it would work by itself, but there's a lot of lower cost alternatives with more features if all you need is a small portable recorder.

The advantage to using the Zaxcom system is that not only do you have a built in recorder AND wireless transmitter so you can monitor the audio, you can also use Zaxnet to remotely change any setting on the transmitter. You should talk to a Zaxcom dealer to get all the info you need. I never EVER put a recorder on somebody and just leave it. If you can't monitor your recording then you aren't doing your job properly.
