Zacuto "revenge of the great camera shootout, 2012" announced!

@morgan_moore A point I entirely agree with. There are certain limitations that remain, and I think the disparity between G and D vs the rest of the clips in the round-up is a good example of that.

Let's not forget, that Youtube is clipping the levels pretty harsh (16-235), while re-compressing.
Depending on the output workflow and compression settings this can bring in some nasty effects, that was not in the original material.
Don't know if Vimeo applies the same "Magic" though.

A forum thread, and a 'staff' respondent from vimeo, strongly suggests that uploads are reprocessed by Vimeo to what they want to have.

Thread:

https://vimeo.com/forums/topic:49750

What is also important that their 'recommended' res/bit rate for HD is 5000 Kbs, and 1280x720.

Youtube has a current recommended bit rate of 8000 Kbs for 1080p material.

I would presume that any reprocessing done by Vimeo and Youtube, would be to conform any upload to those specs.

So have the ID's of the clips been released yet and WHY were they NOT released simultaneously with Part I ???? Suspense or Stupidity ???

Suspense or Stupidity ???

Definitely suspense. :) I think that in part they want to try to make sure that as many people see them without knowing the answers ahead of time as they can, and in part there is just a whole lot of work that goes into the whole production. But I do not have any inside knowledge.

However, they do outline that they will be releasing each segment 1 month apart, etc. and it seemed clear that they wanted to save the reveal for part 2.

Nope. Zacuto is going to reveal this info in mid July, and I think the main reason was to promote discussion, which it definitely has. ( we've got at least 4 different threads going at the same time on DvxUser )

The third part to be released in mid August, will show footage from all 9 cameras under the SAME lighting, which changes things a fair bit.

Final guesses anyone?

About 20 minutes to go I think.

To be honest, I don't know most of the cameras that well, especially the Sony ones.

A - ?F65; looks like an expensive dynamic range, whatever it is
B - GH2 (mainly going by the amount of fill added, to be honest; in terms of image, this is my favourite)
C - Epic (thinking about dynamic range for this one)
D - iPhone
E - ?F3
F - Alexa (mainly looking at the highlight roll-off for this one)
G - 7D (moire on lamp)
H - ?C300 (something about grain says C300 to me, but I'm probably wrong...)
I - ?FS100 (by process of elimination)

Now waiting to see how much pie I have on my face in 20 minutes' time...
