YouTube video problem

[kyleb]

i downloaded a video from youtube, and used this website called www.keepvid.com which converted it into mpeg-4. when i imported it into Sony Vegas Platinum the video is flickering all over the place, the audio is fine. when i played it in quicktime it played fine.
i don't normally download youtube videos but it's Obama's victory speech which i wanted to use for a presentation. other than that i would never go near a youtube video.

any ideas ? :dankk2:

Just an incompatible format, avoid ripping copyrighted material.

yes i know love. it wasn't for sale or anything. but you say incompatible, it was an .flv file converted to mpeg-4. should that really be causing me problems ? should i not be trying to edit mpeg-4 files ?
this is for future reference...

mpeg4 files work just fine on the timeline.

It depends on the mpeg4 file. There are a gazillion encoders out there that don't always create 100% compatible result.

true. besides now i see legit companies are selling the speech. oh well...
