Just got a notification that Youtube (through Youtube) wants to add me as a "compensated contributor", or something like that.

How many of you have gotten that message? Is this a good opp? Or is everyone getting these?

Not everyone gets them. One of my videos has half a million hits and I haven't been contacted- so it looks like you have reached the magic number, whatever it may be, of average hits to your videos that Youtube deems adequate to pay you. Congrats!

On the flip side, I hear some "compensated contributors" get monthly checks of only a dollar or two. Go figure.

I don't think it's just views number. They sometimes send those messages to people with ~1000 views. Guess that's because they believe channel content will grow with time, get more subscribes etc.
