Youtube is going 3D

I've finally been convinced that 3D works in theaters, but I don't like how desperately everything is jumping on now. I can't imagine it being all that useful in any other situation.

Just YouTube being juvinille and offering a somewhat entertaining content selection. Do they mean everything will be 3D? Because that is impossible considering you must know what is in front and what is behind, thus rotoscoping all that old footage. Plus this is old 3d... I can stream those kind of clips off my website. Nothing special, new, or innovative here, except the filters which allow you to match the footage to which ever type of glasses you have.

It's the 'old' 3D technology of blue (or green) and red eye filters. Boring. This will die a horrible death. The future has been proven to be undisputably the alternating polarized or shuttered glasses. Thus color rendition is preserved at an exceptional rate and other obvious advantages. Perhaps the future will have an even better way of producing the same effect... but one thing is for certain... those days of color gelatin cardboard glasses is over.

This (3D content) will happen eventually online, most likely, but not anytime soon. Our computers do not currently have the ability to display alternating images polarized to opposite angles. Panasonic has that technology in their upcoming 3d televisions which I have previewed many times over the last two years and I have to say works great.

The 3d trend will be just like the advent of sound... we have a decent breakthrough and then everyone and their mom will be trying to make a penny off of it. You will see it abused, overused, and whored out. Eventually things will calm down and it will just become another tool in the media industry. This Youtube thing, as 'fun' as it is, is working the corner on 3d street.

From what I saw they were stereo which would be for the shutter glasses and not the old red/blue stuff. I like the old red/blue 3D, just not in movies, but those old 3D comic books. I luuuuuuved those. ;)
