Just curious how some of the videos on some of the popular sites like YouTube get so popular. How do you keep your video in such a high rotation or get high volumes of hits or views? I am sure content of the video is a major factor. The most I have gotten was over 450 views but that was over a 3-4 month period.

Tags. If you tag your video with words like funny, hilarious, stupid or other common search terms (song names etc.) then your video will more likely pop up more in searches. Unfortunately that's also how videos of girls wading around in swimming pools and people burning hair off their armpit gets 500,000 views while your meticulously crafted music video ends up forgotten. Yeah, I'm bittered as hell.

One word: Viral.

All it takes is one person to love something and pass it on, and then they pass it on, then they pass it on, and on, and on.

In just about every instance i've ever seen a viral video succeed, its been funny in some way or another.
