YouTube frustration

I've been uploading some videos on YouTube, and can never get the video quality I want. I've read tons of threads and forums on this question, tried a lot of different configurations, but none make much of a difference. If you know the answer, PLEASE SHARE IT.

MY SPECS: Shooting on DVX100B - 24p mode - FCP 4.5 - Editing in 29.97 timeline because I am mixing with 30 fps video footage

The clips I am trying to upload are no more than 5 minutes, and are only things I've shot in 24p. I don't have QT Pro. Does it matter that much? Do I have to buy a program like Sorenson? I read some people that were using Sorenson still didn't get good quality.

HERE IS THE CLIP I AM TESTING WITH:

Is this the best I can get with what I have to work with? I hope not. Thanks for any help and suggestions.

It all doesn't really matter too much...because they convert whatever you give them into FLASH media anyways, which really degrades the image. I have posted two videos and compressed them both H.264...and they looked great to me. But on YouTube...washed out. But people don't watch youtube for quality looking images. Content is what they are after.

Not much you can do.

Was wondering how much difference it made if I compress it into a QT as opposed to a Flash file. Some say it doesn't matter, some say it does. What's really frustrating is that there doesn't seem to be one right answer for this problem.
I know what you're saying about people watching YouTube mainly for content, but I feel videos are more likely to get noticed and shared if the image quality is really good.

Well, if you compress it to FLASH yourself, they won't recompress. And now that they offer H.264 videos, if you convert to that, they should show it in that format as well.

I sent several vids with h264.(some large, some small) they still recompress to flash. From what I have been reading, sending the proper flash file may be the answer...I just don't know the answer to that one.

ive stopped using youtube & now use myspace to upload videos. their is a noticable quality difference in the way they encode.

I've read that you can get better quality on sites other than youtube. Unfortunately, none get as much attention as youtube. Anyone have suggestions on other sites that are growing in popularity where you get better image quality? Anyone know about Daily Motion?

I've used Revver and find their compression superior to YouTube AND you will get some revenue from views if they are substantial enough. But as noted, it does not have the reach of YouTube.
