YouTube creators are less likely to lose ad money

So what do you actually DO on Twitter and IG, for example? Facebook you can post a nice explanation of whatever you're posting. . .Twitter you're limited with characters, and I don't know if videos or photos show up in the post itself or just as a link. . .Instagram has no text, just images, right (I admit I don't really mess with either)? How do you reach total strangers?

IG is not for video creators: you can't even share a link, it's awful. But my friends who share mostly photos have a lot more success there than on FB. You have to post with hashtags, which lots of people follow. They'll get to see your pic because they follow the hashtag, there's no need for them to be following you. They use both relatively specific hashtags (with not-so-many followers but without a lot of noise) and also very popular hashtags (with millions of followers but also lots of posts, which means yours will be buried in noise pretty fast).

TW is the best platform right now for talking to your fans. It' fast and direct, and yes, people will see a thumbnail they can click on, not just the link (OK, sometimes there's just a link, no idea what makes it look one way or the other, but don't stress out over that, you may be seeing a link while your followers see a thumbnail). There are "content aggregator" accounts, you can reply to your original post with a cc to some of them, and they may retweet your original post (I can't suggest any: they are theme-specific, look for the ones that would be interested in what you post).

The biggest pain is that you may already have lots of followers on FB, and starting over on a different platform can be a lot of work. Even more, if you can't tell your FB followers to look for you on TW because FB won't show the post (specially if it has a link to TW).

Then again, all of this is important for "launching" your video. After the first few days, it's the YT algorithm that you want to be friends with. I'm not an expert there: sometimes I get lucky, sometimes I don't. But when it works, that's how you get the views. In the last month, 61% of my views come from YT suggestions, 15% from YT search, 10% from YT browse features. Then there's 4% of other ways YT sends traffic my way, and finally the 10% that I have brought through my marketing efforts on social media (which are still terribly important because if the video doesn't get views on its own then YT won't show it to anybody in suggestions, search, etc).

Ok thanks. Yeah, no worries on having to "start over" on another platform. No one likes us. MIddle aged men playing offensive/un-PC music? Uphill battle all the way.

XDDDD
At least I hope you're having fun!

(I would definitely use IG to post pics of concerts of whatever)
