YouTube Channel Name Ideas

Hey, guys. So I'm posting for a friend of mine who makes VFX videos in a Corridor Digital or Freddie Wong type way. He's looking to start up a YouTube channel (and Vimeo) for his new videos starting with the next one released. For months, he has tried to come up with a name for the production title. I've even tried to help him, but I just can't come up with anything fitting, as I'm not really into that type of stuff.

He wants a name like Corridor Digital: something without films/productions/media in it. This isn't a production company, but instead, a production title to make his videos under. I know some of you guys are really creative with this kind of stuff, so I told him I would ask around for him.

Anybody have any clever ideas?

so he produces vfx/cgi heavy short films. as in action and sci-fi short films. films in a fantasy, alternative world, or alternative reality. a film in a new world reality, a computer generated reality world, a generated reality, of digital reality. and he's a small independent/indie, kinda like backyard, or basement/garage production going on, like an underdog story. and he's streaming videos weekly or monthly, and also insider looks and behind the scene or making of type videos.

hmm, i could not think of anything in 10 seconds. how is he a creative person spending months trying to get a name, but can do weekly or monthly videos. where is he going to get the stories he's going to make on consistent basis.

Great points that I'm not disagreeing with. I actually like some of those. Will definitely be passing along.

The name doesn't really matter...I mean, hell, Freddie Wong's channel is just "freddiew".
Stubborn People LOL

I don't know if any of these work, but those kinds of word combos smashed together like that might be a way to go.

Those are pretty good suggestions. I've passed them on to him.

Keep them coming, everybody!

With any naming convention, you want to say something about who you are/what you do in the name. I am not bragging, because I had help, but my company name......"Indie Arms" says everything. Indie films and weapons. You have to look at everything you use to promote yourself or your business as a "brand". You use it everywhere, to spread the name. What ever name he uses for the company.....use it for the Youtube channel. Branding now is everything for future use.

That's advice I paid money for.......and now giving away free........

Doc... if I didn't see the graphic of the guy with a gun & film reel in your logo...and just heard "Indie Arms", I would assume you were a company that makes prosthetic limbs.
If it was just the film reel graphic, you'd be a promotion company helping indie filmmakers get their films out there.
You might want to ask for a refund....

You can make anything, any name become the brand you want.....Worldwide Pants, Conaco, Playtone or Happy Madison...in the end, the product speaks for itself.

Hmmmm....film reel.....guy with a gun. Indie Arms.....related to things I reply to when they are asking for weapons (if they are asking/looking for weapons.....they know what "arms" are.....as well as the relationship to "Indie" markets.....) Never had some one cold email me......"you got prosthetics?", though you may be the only one to even discuss that........nor have I had someone think I was a "promotion company"..... That alone attests that I am not too far off base here...I only have my email and phone call stats to gauge off of ("How did you hear of me?").....but I could be completely deluded and you are completely right....

The emails I get....."can you provide weapons for nothing?" or "Hey, I got a film coming up and I am a producer on it.....I need these weapons........."

LOL, you know what I do....yes, Zaza? Why? A guess or because I explained it and educated your opinion so you will never actually associate the name with anything else and now is forever associated with my brand? AKA "Branding". Zaza, you are doing it here. You have your user name as ZazaCast....your link is ZazaCast Films.......that is establishing "branding".

But that's just because I am active in spreading my brand, so when anyone asks......there is usually someone in my area that can answer on my behalf through their experience or knowledge. That's how active I am in marketing the company. And branding is closely related to marketing....so much so, they can be synonymous.

But okay with the difference of opinion. All I can say is I get new interest and requests for quotes because of the name alone and word of mouth....either experience or "just heard about you" from someone else they talked to, or a simple Google search....

This is only said to re-inforce the "branding" aspect, just the brand alone can be a weak approach if the person with the brand is not willing to actively spread the message. In the So Cal Indie market........most people have heard of my company. The more you brand and use the brand for the company....the better you are for the future.
