Hi everybody,
I'd like to upgrade my pc system, for editing with Vegas 6 and DVD-A 3. I use Magic Bullet Editors with Vegas and like to upgrade to MBE version 2. I work with PAL 25P material from my DVX100 and mainly use Vegas for straight edits/cuts, fades, color correction, MBE filmlook, titles, 5.1 audiomixing and MPEG2 and AC3 rendering. I'd like to have a smoother workflow during editing. And a faster rendering speed is a 2nd wish. (At the moment I work with a P4 1.9 ghz Dell Dimension system).
What do you think of the following system?
Dell XPS600 with
Intel D840 processor (dualcore 3.2 ghz)
2 GB RAM
320 GB Raid 0 (2x 160)
videocard Nvidia 7800GTX 256MB with DVI
Dell widescreen 24" monitor
DVDROM and DVDRW
This systems looks on the outside on the Precision 670 workstation of Dell, but it's cheaper. The workstations are offered with dual Xeon processors, are those giving a lot more performance with Vegas or is a dualcore processor/system like above good enough?
