your mp3 player of choice

Re: your mp3 player of choice

The neuros' biggest problem is that it connects using USB not firewire. There's a serious problem with that. The speed lacks and the ipod can recharge it's battery simply by being plugged into the firewire... :P

Re: your mp3 player of choice

SONY PSP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm waiting for the Sony PSP to come out...It's a handheld game system giving performance like PS2 games such as Gran Tourismo and Metal Gear.

But the best part is it'll be able to use the Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo. It's the new memory stick that's come out (found in cameras DSCT1 and DSCU40S).

It's going to be a game unit...and an MP3 player in one!

...well...I think it's cool.

Re: your mp3 player of choice

To clarify:
1. The Sony does play multiple formats, including mp3.
2. The Neuros has USB 2.0 connection, which is as fast or faster than Firewire (not FW 800 though). My Archos can charge from the USB 2.0 port while connected. Don't know about the Neuros...

Re: your mp3 player of choice

I have an Ipod, I use it instead of a zip drive.
I wish I could do field recording on to it!
I also wish that there were a manual EQ.
I've had the ipod since March and only logged onto the ITUNES store three weeks ago. No wonder!

Re: your mp3 player of choice

If the come out with a sound dock, and a iTrip equivalent for the Sony Network Walkman I will get it. They're lack of accessories frightens me, I know it just came out and all, but damn.

Re: your mp3 player of choice

Yeah, the thing to watch out for with Sony is that it only does ATRAC files. And the 30-hour battery life—that's a joke. It's a thirty-hour life if you are using 24k ATRAC encoding, which, by the way, is also what accounts for it's phenomenal storage capacity. My iPod could also hold eleventy billion songs if encoded them in crappy 24k.

Re: your mp3 player of choice

"The Network Walkman player plays back ATRAC3 and ATRAC3plus files and supports the most popular Internet Audio formats: MP3, WMA and WAV."

It doesn't JUST play ATRAC

Re: your mp3 player of choice

Does the Neuros use hi-speed USB2.0 though? or just fullspeed? I'm pretty sure the ipod can top out on 400mb/s the USB2.0 is only a max of 480mb/s but that's with hi-speed. Full-speed is significantly slower than firewire...

Re: your mp3 player of choice

the new Neuros model supports USB2.0 -- the older was Full Speed USB1.1

Re: your mp3 player of choice

I didn't know they'd changed the Net Walkman to play multiple formats. Good for them, because those actually do look really cool, even if they're no iPod ;)

I am aware of that, there are two speeds for USB 2.0... fullspeed and hi-speed...

Re: your mp3 player of choice

yep... i just couldn't find what kind of USB2.0 they have. they use the term "full speed" just for the old USB1.1 models.

Re: your mp3 player of choice

That second one is a brilliant design... i wonder if it would be feasible to put all the hardware an ipod requires with that setup...

You could watch full length feature films on your damn ipod :P

Re: your mp3 player of choice

I've been waiting for this. Anything that comes out now adays that DOESN'T have a color LCD is going to be upgraded within a few gens.

I LOVE that second one. I'll be waiting for that. :)
