Your impressions on Gangnam Style's "look"

It was shot on RED Epic apparently...

Anyone else surprised about this? I took another look at it and to be honest, the image quality on this video could fool anyone into thinking it was shot on a 5D. I even think my HPX170 + the Letus Ultimate could match the image quality in “Gangnam Style”. It's all about the lenses and correct use of lighting it seems...

I personally really like the aesthetic of the video. It's like cotton candy, soft and colorful. I think it fits the vibe of the song and the dance perfectly.

That being said, i'm sure you could get a similar look with lesser cameras. Only setup where I would doubt that would be the room at the end with the lasers.
 
Unfortunately most cameras that shoot RAW get buggered up in post with aggressive color correction.

Agreed. It doesn't need to look any better and a more polished look with more lighting or a better DP would not have enhanced the video.
