Those are two of my favorites as well.

I'm a huge fan of my old SNES library... Mario, Zelda, Secret of Mana, SF2Turbo, MK2....

Also, the original Playstation is almost ten years old... at what point do we consider that to be retro?

mike tyson punch out!
Metal Gear
Galaga
Super Mario Bros 3
Contra
Metroid ( I had a World record at one point beat it in 29 mins! now its like 22 mins by some other guy)
Zelda
And a newish oldy: Chrono Trigger

Oh man....from all this retro game stuff..i decided to hook up my NES...it brings back good memories...i gave up on James Bond...i cant beat that frigginnn last level..so i think im gonna attempt to beat Mario and Duck hunt all in one combo cartridge...

I have 5 games...but they bring hours of fun..for me atleast...plus emulators...

In order from top left...
Mario Duckhunt Combo...ExciteBike...Blaster Master...Castlevania...Contra

I dont need any other games...then i have like 300 emulators....

yes blaster master is good that and contra and castlevania i also liek castlevania 2 simons quest. also Double Dragon

The Legend of Zelda was brilliant. Mike Tyson's Punch Out was great (I never beat Mike Tyson, though), but in my very humble opinion the best game on the original NES was Tecmo Bowl... Bo Jackson was the man in that game!

Genesis, c'mon, no one has mentioned Altered Beast of Golden Ax

I pretty much quit playing games after that with the exception of my freshman year in college. We would stay of for days playing James Bond Golden Eye. That was brilliant!

WOW blast from the past.... Going back to the atari 2600 days I would have to say Frogger and Moon Patrol.

This thread was actually on my mind tonight as I was watching the ballgame.

You know what were two incredible games that people always seem to forget?

Blades of Steel & Double Dribble...

Why are these great games, you ask? In the beginning of each game there was this muffled voice that said 'double dribble' & 'blades of steel'...

Incredible, Mind Blowing, Great!

Kids these days. Come on, It ain't a game unless you can spend your entire allowance, in quarters, at the arcade playing.

My favs were,

Battle Zone,
and Missle Command.

You gotta blow stuff up to have fun.

If it requires an entire allowance then the original Star Wars with the purple lines was the best game.

Later in life Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter, but since then, nothing...
