Re: Your Favorite Movies of All Time

Wow. If everyone does this, this thread will be a hundred pages long and will mostly list the same 20 movies . . .

Re: Your Favorite Movies of All Time

(Interesting that someone would list "Triumph of Will," though . . . )

Re: Your Favorite Movies of All Time

I am taking "Triumph of Will" out, I hope people don't get any wrong ideas...and don't want to start a political discussion.
Triumph of Will is a revolting and frightening Nazi propaganda. I totally agree that it deifies the biggest evil of the 20th century, but I thought it is an amazing film for its a purely cinematic/aesthetic value(excluding nazi propaganda content). It also shows mass hysteria, and how how the medium of film can be used in the wrong hands and serve wrong purpose etc.

Sorry, if I gave wrong ideas to anyone.
I am glad that I didn't have any D.W Griffith films in the list. :-X

Re: Your Favorite Movies of All Time

Fallen Angels by Wong Kar-Wai

If you haven't seen it, rent it. You will be amazed and inspired by what DP Christopher Doyle does with that camera.

This I guarantee. ;D

Too bad there doesn't seem to be a good dvd transfer of this in any region. The print I saw had to be one of the worst I have ever seen.

Re: Your Favorite Movies of All Time

As I figure that most of my fav movies will be mentioned or are already pretty well known, I will just reccomend one:
LA HAINE, or HATE in english is probably the best movie I have ever seen. Visually masterful. Brilliant acting from previously unknown actors. Gripping story. Unmatched intensity. THE BEST ENDING EVER.
directed and written by Matheiu Kassovitz, director of AMelie.
A gritty black and white look into the French ghetto and police brutality, but also a deep search for hope and peace. An amazing film in all aspects. Is pretty much flawless. I LOVE IT. RENT IT NOW.

Re: Your Favorite Movies of All Time

There are so many, but if I had to pick just one, I would have to say, "We're gonna need a bigger boat."

-what, no movies with Shannon Tweed and Andrew Stevens? No Jeff Fahey or Don "The Dragon" Wilson movies? What about kid movies where the kid is upset for 90 minutes because his/her parents are too busy working?
