Re: Your Fav TV Show

Gotta agree with PrairieDog. West Wing was the last show I watched regularly but after the first 3 seasons it just got too soap opera"y". It reminds me of Fraiser's last few seasons...god that show went on too long.

I forget in earlier post, I do still make an effort to watch the Simpsons but it is not the "must see" TV that it once was (do I sound jaded? ;))

Re: Your Fav TV Show

Comedy: The Simpsons, The Office, Arrested Development, Curb Your Enthusiasm, King of the Hill, Seinfeld, Scrubs

Drama: Law and Order (I want to parody the opening of that show so much)

Reality: Survivor (sorry, but I love it)

Re: Your Fav TV Show

umm, Jackass, and Iron Chef. The Japanese version of Iron chef, not this new american one. It just doesn't have the "feel" of the original.

Re: Your Fav TV Show

Currently-airing faves:

Lost
24
Life As We Know It
Arrested Development
Scrubs
ER
Da Ali G. Show

All time faves:

Firefly
Buffy
Freaks and Geeks
My So-Called Life
ER
Seinfeld
Moonlighting
MASH
Twilight Zone
Star Trek: TOS/TNG
Simpsons (Seasons 1-5)
Cheers (Seasons 1-3)

Shows I thought were great when I was nine:

Battlestar Galactica
Dukes of Hazzard
Buck Rogers
Diff'rent Strokes
The Love Boat
BJ and the Bear

Show that I knew sucked even in my otherwise critically-undiscerning childhood:

After MASH

And finally, shows that should be taken off the air immediately:

Survivor
American Idol
Fear Factor
All the "CSI" and "Law and Order" shows... enough already! How many different ways can a person die?

Re: Your Fav TV Show

Loves unabashed and guilty pleasures...

Family Guy, Deadwood, Sopranos, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (I cry every time), The Simpsons, Desperate Housewives, Jeff Corwin Experience and West Wing (up until the day Aaron Sorikin stopped obsessing over the writing).

I was raised on a psychedelic mix of the following quality television programs...

Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour, Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In, Family Affair, Battle of the Planets (G-Force!) Bewitched, I Dream of Genie, Hanna-Barbera's riot-list of inept television filler, Scooby-Doo (which is a bold exception to the aforementioned fodder), Twilight Zone re-runs (every day from 12 - 1pm!) I Love Lucy re-runs (about 6 hours a day - basically the beginning of on-demand programming), The Banana Splits, New Zoo Revue, H.R. Puffinstuff, The Bugaloos, Land of the Lost, The Andy Williams Show, The Donnie and Marie Show, The Dukes of Hazzard, BJ and the Bear, Voltron, Macross and Bosom Buddies.

And... Little House on the Prarie - hey! my grandparents were living with us at the time and it filled the hours when Lawrence Welk wasn't on.

Re: Your Fav TV Show

John H.

When I was youngish man, I went to Los Angeles for a one on one with John Dykstra and Jon Erland at Apogee. Mr. Erland is known as the "father of modern blue screen" for his phosphor techniques developed around the time of Spaceballs.

Even farther back in history, these guys shot the original trench sequence in Star Wars from the back of their El Camino in the Apogee parking lot.

It was just after Star Wars that John and Jon and George Lucas had their famous split - J&J to remain in SoCal at the renamed Apogee doing a new series called Battlestar Galactica, while Lucas headed to Marin to formally open ILM to shoot some forgettable films... ;)

Apogee was an amazing place - loaded to the rafters with SFX history. We had an opportunity to watch Jon shoot using the Dykstraflex motion control rig which used VistaVision cameras on an infinite axis. Crazy stuff.

We went to visit them because we were testing a prototype VistaVision 16mm system - film traveled through a horizontal path rather than verticle gate. That rig was built by Panavision, but no one in the business knew more about VistaVision than the Apogee and ILM guys.

So true! John, what do think about Ron Moore's "re-imagined" version?

I also love HBO's Wire, Sopranos, 6FU, and Curb, but the time in between seasons is brutal. Sopranos in 2006? With all the time off, I might fuhgedaboutit.
