Your Crtique please

Looking better Jeff but I would still put up some black seamless or duvetine behind the racks to cover up all of that wall. It would make it look more like a studio and less like a garage. Lights on the racks look better.

All black back there would mitigate a lot of your small chip deep DOF issue. You don't have a Brevis/Letus/SG Blade laying around do you?

No I'm adapterless... Anyone want to send me one to review :) The black behind the rack isnt a bad idea at all though... Wouldnt interfere with operations of it all nor would it be much of an expense... The christmas lights are already causing problems - had to use 4 curse words to get a hammer, which is 2 more than I normally need... Ooh and I just had another idea... - see if I cant pull it off tomorrow... Super top secret of course... :)

Thanks again for the help with this Dan! It gets really frustrating having a much less than ideal space to be stuck with... On the other hand its a fun challenge to have to overcome too :)

Well the first one is up - totally changed everything :) I think the angles and the wide angle lens make some interesting lines and it just happens to be at a very convenient spot to keep everything and still use the garage - just put the camera in place, fire on the lights, and roll. Still love to hear what you all think. Comment here, comment on the blog, its all good :)

I couldn't resist.

I like the angled look. I think it works. For this particular video, the color of your jacket, the zacuto gear, and that tripod case? next to the table share a color and contrast the blue tone, which I think work together. Still not sold on that color scheme with your whole gear review thing, but i could come around. more about the look– I think you could bring your key more around the front of you, and raise it up? You got some shadows across your face when you held the gear up. Speaking of that, I felt like I never really got the best look at the gear itself. Either hold it up real close for us under good light, or give us a cutaway so we can see it well?

Audio: Once when you turned your head the audio fell out.. so either don't talk when you're not facing the mic or change it's position a little. A little background music with a beat might help the opening and closing... just enough to hear it and then it's gone before you really get into things, and then when we hear it towards the end, it signifies the closing.

Talent: The gif says enough. You made a funny with the whole audio beep thing when you needed to check something. That worked for me. For the most part you were engaging, just watch out for little mumbles. Speaking clearly is helpful on reviews like these.

Hope my comments were helpful. Keep it up, I'm sure with each one they will get better.

I love it. Had a feeling something like that would happen.

Thanks for the comments on the look - its definitely a work in progress. Glad you like the overall framing/composition of it all though. Definitely agree on being able to see the gear. I noticed that in post and due to a lack of time and the nature of this project I opted to skip adding in cutaways for this one. Next one I'll have some more time and will figure out a way to show the product better be it just holding it in a better position or going to a cutaway. And I'm partially glad it doesnt necessarily scream gear review. I'm all about letting this be a little bit different, but at the same time I dont want to people to be expecting something totally different when they see it for the first time. Its also an excuse to play around with color correction as most of the cc'ing I do is for corporate work and always needs to look a little "standard". Oh and yes that is a light stand case although it might have come from a golf store...

Glad the whole audio beep edits worked for you - its my clever lo-fi way of my being horrible on camera talent. The mumbles are something I need to watch for - caught a few and fixed them while shooting, but obviously a few got through. Promise to use a lav next time too. This was the "bare minimum" test and while the on camera mic did surprisingly well (compared to what I thought it would sound like at least) I think a lav will really help the sound a bit.

Music and stuff is a good idea - will probably work up a bit fancier title sequence, but nothing too fancy. It is a show out of my garage... :)

Definitely helpful comments Mike, much appreciated. Yeah hopefully they'll each have a bit more production value as time goes on and the show develops. Thanks for checking it out!
