Young Actors/Actresses of Today

I was wondering everyone's opinion on the young actors and actresses from today. From any age up to the teen years, like Dakota Fanning, Lindsay Lohan, Olsen Twins, Rory Kulkin, Haley Joel Osment, etc. I feel that some of these have a lot of talent and great potential, but the studios seem to direct some of their films to younger audiences, which make their performances a bit cheesy, but I still think some of today's younger stars will be great in their late teens and early 20's. What does everyone think? Do you think that some of them are bad actors or they just need a good movie?
 
I only have one thing to say:

They all stink. The only one that has some talent is Osment and we'll see how long he lasts. Dakota Fanning is talented as well.
 
I forgot about Fanning. I think she is one of the best young actors we have today and Im looking forward to seeing what she can do in the future. Its amazing how young their pushing out good talent these days.

And I dont think they all stink. I just think for young actors, its hard to turn down work, and so anytime a deal comes along, they seem to pick it up, and most Ive seen are pretty much cheesy scripts to me, but I have a feeling once some of these actors get a career going and get to the age that they can make their own decisions, that they will amaze us with some of their talent. Ive seen interviews of some of these young actors, and if they only played roles that were more like who they are in real life, they'd be pretty good.
 
Dude John, what time zone are you on? Cuz it seems to me that you never sleep..
Is it just me or do all of us film freaks not sleep much?

I agree, Fanning is great. Haley is good too, though I did not see him in 2nd hand lions. Has anyone seen that or anything of his lately? He was great in Pay it Forward.

Fanning reminds me of Drew Barrymore. Not just cause of both of them working with Spielberg in a movie about aliens but cause of her acting.

The Potter lot

The lot of kids from the Potter films make the franchise. The films could have been so bad if the children could not hold there own. With each film they get better and better. I would hope that they continue to take supporting roles costaring with bigger talent, where undoubtedly they would learn much more than can be learned by headlining the next Herby/Disney mess.

Dakota is awesome.
Osmet is akward now.

Ultimately dogs and children in films are tricky buisness, case in point, Jake Loyd as young Anikan was worse than Jar Jar in my opinion.

There is something that some children have, "old souls" has been used to describe them. Dakota and Osmet had this and it can be seen. So do the Potter kids to a lesser exetent.
 
I really like Shia Lebeouf (my apologies if I totally killed the spelling of his name), but I first saw him in one of the PGL series not knowing he was all over the Disney Channel, then saw him in Holes, then as the cabbie in Constantine, and then The Greatest Game Ever Played. I think he will do very well in the future... at least I hope so. I always cross my fingers that people dont get caught up in a lifestyle that draws their young lives to an early end. :(
 
Dakota Fanning is just amazing. I'm completely blown away by her talent. And her movies certainly don't seem to be aimed at the younger set. She's too young to even get in to see some of them.
 
Dakota Fanning is obviously very talented. The thing I can't over is how they put her in the same role all the time. She always plays a young girl who is well above her years as far as common sense, vocabulary, etc goes. It's gettin to the point where I am not wanting to see the films because I am going to see alot of the same ol'.

I agree - Not her fault I guess. Good actress for sure but she creeps me out. WAY too mature for her age. Watching her in interviews is just weird. She acts 20. I see her lasting into an adult career.
 
Dakota and Haley Joel are really talented. I'm sure they will have longevity in this industry. It's just a matter of them accepting the right role to move their career forward . I would also add Keisha Castle-Hughes who was nominated for an Academy award for her role in "Whale Rider". Her performance in that movie was unbelievable.
