You tell me... bad dad or going to jail?

Am I just a bad dad and am going to jail or do I just have a warped sense of fatherhood?

You know, we dads look forward to certain things...

First time we share Monty Python... Blazing Saddles... etc...

I "might" have jumped the gun on this one...

PS -- I folded!

Well Capt'n, without the right skills, they'd never stand a chance.

Learn to fish, you get a fish, learn to play cards, you get to eat out:thumbsup:

Is it bad that I don't know how to play that game?

I'm assuming you guess whether or not you have the high card by guagin the reactions of your opponents.

that's pretty funny, may I ask, though, why are they, um, without shirts? did they "lose them"?
or was it just really hot in SF.?

why are they, um, without shirts?

I think any parent can testify that for some reason kids don't like clothes. You just can't convince them that society frowns upon nudity.

HA!!! EXACTLY!

We were minutes away from bedtime and Linda was screaming at me to get the boys to bed... well --

I just couldn't catch a card to save my life... we played one more hand after this photo... I saw a four and a three and went all in. Damn kids folded and I only picked up 3 pennies.

Indian Poker, TC. Try it.

CaptM, what were you thinking? Haven't you ever heard of "No Shirts. No Shoes. No Service."? Okay, I'll let it go since they were "ready" for bed. Our Zachary doesn't always sleep in a shirt, either, but heck, he doesn't always sleep, period.

That being said, if you battle with your boys over showing up at the dinner table sans shirts, here's a surefire solution that'll stop them cold. Zachary shows up at the table without his shirt, and I tell him that either he puts one on, or I take mine off. Ewwwww. Shirt on, end of problem.

Of course, this will only work if Linda does it, otherwise you'll all be in big stripey trouble. And if anyone thinks you'd sit there and see if it really happened, just get a visual of eating dinner with YOUR shirtless Mom. 'Nuff said.

HA!

My boys are still in the giggle stage... not the shame stage your Zachary (thankfully) lives.

But I remember back in my misplaced youth of 22-28 eating an occasional dinner with ... (sounds of harps...)

Wha? Huh?

Oh, sorry. I digress.

Nah, your doin' just fine.

You want a bad Dad?

My Dad made me play Russian Roulette with a cap gun when I was 5.

Whenever I watch The Deer Hunter, I cry.

Some have flashbacks of "the ****" in Saigon.

Me, it's quiet Sunday mornings with paps.

Go figure.

That a way Capt

My wife has been in NC all week and its been all me and my boy; watching The Thing, Weird Science, Sixteen Candles.........

He went to the Gym with me, we played Tennis, we ate grubbing food, played ZOMBIE ATTACK in the house. Tonight I taught him how to open a bottle of wine (Coppolla). My 5 year old is a bad dude.

Poker is an essential skill. Do I condone actual gambling? ONce a year in Vegas and occasional the 'pool'. A man has got to understand the laws of gambling and what it means to bluff and lose and win it all

Kids? Who you calling a kid?

Everyone should just be happy that my apartment finally has curtains.

Amen!

But why only when the wife is away? Why do we CONTINUE to have our lives run by what the women (sorry Dalles... not you - the ones who would NEVER threaten to take their clothes off at dinner) in our lives tell us?

Last night we were watching Chrismas with the Kranks -- my wife is the Jamie Lee Curtis character ALL THE WAY! When she makes that decision to bring back Christmas and yells at the husband for being such an idiot for thinking about the cruise...

I leanded down to the boys and said, "That, my sons, is a 'woman's prerogative'." (Maybe with a little snide emphasis on the quoted words... MAYBE!)

All three boys looked at me...

All three boys looked at mom...

All three boys looked at me... with 'daddy, we understand' grins...

Daddy looks at mommy...

Daddy looks at mommy's dirty dishes next to her comfortable chair and picks them up...

"And this is an apology for saying that..." as I walk out of the room picking up her mess.

Why.

I don't think Cavemen were ever chastised for teaching their sons to hunt... maybe on the way they were taught to "toot-a-tune" by their fathers. Or even to put it all on the line and run out there and attack that Tiger. Sometimes you win...

And I guess sometimes you're picking up dirty dishes.

Capt,

That Indian Poker photograph is awesome!

I have a 7 year old girl and her grandfather (Pop Pop) already taught her how to play poker.

You definitely have to teach them early. :)

Chris

when i used to have my friday night poker games my daughter would sit on my lap and throw my chips out for me.

"I raise baby"
"how much daddy?"
"pot"
How much is that?"
"12 black chips, two red and a white"
"ok"
