I just got my dvd from you guys. And a book.

DVD says: for the shallowest depth of field with DVX use:
z99
f 2.8

When I tried it I noticed that the depth of field was indeed very shallow but I CANT FOCUS when have z99

I am shooting with anamorphic lens adapter. I also used those charts I bought from dxuser.com but there is no way i can focus when i zoom to 99!!!

The anamorphic adapter cannot be used in that combination. It just can't. Refer to the charts and you'll see that the anamorphic is limited as far as zoom/aperture combinations to achieve decent focus. The anamorphic will give you more detail in wider shots, but for tight zooming it's more problematic, and it just can't deliver the same shallow DOF shots as you could get in squeeze mode.

You have to choose one or the other. You can't have both.

i've been wondering, if you have a dvx-100a and you have a really specific shot where you just can't use the anamorphic...

like if you are doing an extreme macro closeup or in my case, you have the matthews car mount adaptor and you are in a vehicle where the extra length of the anamorphic makes it too tight, how awful is it if for that one shot you use squeeze mode?

considering that 99% of us are never going to blow anything up to film...

Not awful at all. Squeeze excels at close shots, the closer you are the less you'll see the resolution difference.
