You Can Count on Me

Saw this a while ago, then again a short while ago, and again this weekend with a friend. I am always in awe when it ends; one of my favorite movies of all time. When people ask me what i hope to achieve someday in a film, from now on i will tell them "anything like You Can Count on Me." If you havn't seen this film, it was a sleeper hit in 2000. Please buy it as soon as possible.

What was it that knocked it home for you. I've seen this one a couple of times and to be honest, I feel the second act is sluggish and the cinematography was exceptionally middle of the road.

Mark ruffalo was decent but I wasn't blown away by his or anyones performance.

Is it the content that speaks to you? Cause I didn't find the film making that mentionable.

Michael, I agree. It was one of my fav's that year (a much underappreciated film). Kenneth Lonergan is a fantastic writer. I thought the script was so great, I bought the screenplay in book form.:beer::beer:

What I loved was the 3 dimensionality of the characters, and the real life complexity or lack of easy answers. Also, it had that sad/funny natural humour that arises out of character, not gags.

Not for everyone, but I admire any writing that can achieve that level of authenticity, while remaining engaging and funny.

Kenneth also did a great acting job as the priest. It was nice to see a non-cliche' portrayal.:)

Cheers.

I almost bought this movie a while back but I watched the trailer and it looked boring. Its got a great cast though, I gotta check it out.
