Yet another iPhone "killer"...

Meh.

No mention of third party apps, without restrictions.
One icon for every program open? You'll be flicking all day.
The dashboard is nothing new. Android has it.
The wireless power charger is cool BUT how many do you have to buy? Home, Office, Car? At least with the G1 you can plug it into any computer usb port and it starts charging. No drivers, no special cable, easy.

I think this is Palm's hail mary. Too late IMHO. In the next year most manufacturers will be making their phones as part of the Open Handset Alliance. Imagine how busy the application Marketplace will be with various options for different phones.

As for iPhone "killer", it already arrived, and it wasn't a phone, it was an OS.
Way too many restrictions on the AppStore, but thats what Apple is right? Their programs, their hardware, their way.

I have a BlackBerry Storm, which I like very much.

So you're the one person in America who likes it. :) Sorry, but I've read so many negative reviews (and have a friend that returned his) that I couldn't resist. And I don't have an iPhone, either.

Wife has an iPhone - loves it. I'm getting an iPhone.

What I like - I can play back movies and music and talk on the phone and get on the internet for a quick lookup.
What I don't like - eats batteries, although you can charge like G1 through USB

Apps? What the $%^& do I need with an app for a phone?! That whole concept in pure marketing genius that people have fallen into. As a movie person, sometimes I need to show off my work - I'll always have my phone - so now I don't need to bring a laptop with me or a portable DVD player, if I have the iPhone. I'm not looking for the phone to be a "fix" for everything. You can text with a stylus on ebay they cost around $10, you can watch movies, listen to music, store-check email, check the internet, store pictures - what else are you guys looking for. I mean my computer is in my office - that's what I use for real work! hahaha :2vrolijk_08:

I'm with ya Jimerson! Make me #2. Got my Storm two days ago and it's perfect for me. Which I think is the thing that most people don't understand. Ever since the iPhone 3g came out, there's this frame of mind that every phone needs every single function ever made crammed into one device or else it's the worst phone ever or pointless to have.

Like lack of Wi-fi isn't a big deal for me cause I've NEVER had a phone with internet, it's a bonus function as far as I'm concerned. Having 3G blows me away. If this is a concern for you ... JUST DON'T BUY THE STORM.

But ... I gotta tell ya, the look on my cousin's face after he got his iPhone 3G and realized he could get picture/video messages ... hilarious.

But why not have Wi-Fi and 3G?

Best of both worlds.
Considering that Wi-Fi is everywhere now it's one hell of a bonus. :)

I was looking at this today. I'm a longtime SPRINT customer and was looking at some of their other phones then I saw this. It looks pretty impressive. If you go to YOUTUBE and check out the demonstration at CES...beautiful phone.

I've never been a phone-gear whore. But I've had my phone for about 4-5 years. Texting without a Qwerty keyboard is getting to me. And I'm pretty much done with getting a friends picture mail-link that I can't view.

I'm a SPRINT fan so I am biased but since I don't have a phone contract I decided to give Verizon a shot and went to check out their phones and plans. WTF? Verizon is RIDICULOUSLY expensive. Please GOD somebody explain to me what the big draw is with Verizon? Please don't say service. SPRINT, VERIZON and AT&T are the trinity. They are all pretty much everywhere.

That phone is ridiculously cool. wow. wonder why nokia always seems to fly under the front-page radar.

Having had Nokia as a client (I'm in advertising), it's probably because they re-org their marketing department every 18 months or so and through everything and everyone for a loop. And, unless they've changed yet again, they have separate groups marketing individual phones with little synergy or consistency (beyond their brand graphic standards) between them.
