Stuart Gordon, who directed this, also directed cult classic Re-Animator...For some reason I saw him play Scrooge in A Christmas Carol in Chicago in the 80's. They listed him in the program as director of Re-Animator, which pleased a budding film geek like me. I guess he was active in the theater scene there.

Anne-Marie Johnson told a great story about how there was going to be a locker-room nude scene in which she would be, well, nude. So she worked out relentlessly to get into supreme killer shape for the scene...which was cut.

A terrible loss all 'round, I'd say.

It's fascinating in the same way that a horrible horrible airplane crash is fascinating. It's awful but somehow you just can't look away...

Krull is not a good movie but it has good things in it. Wouldn't be half as watchable without that James Horner score.

That's true, I *still* enjoy that score (back when he was slumming and doing stuff like 'Battle Beyond the Stars...') and of course bits of it still surface in his present works...

Krull had some good concepts behind it but for the most part the execution just killed them.

I suppose that's one reason why a remake for this would be justified, if you're going to be remaking something anyway.

Classic. I think movies like this, HARDWARE, CRASH & BURN and KRULL are the stuff Hollywood should be remaking.

HARDWARE is one of my favorite sci-fi films. A remake isn't needed, yet since the original film is pretty unknown to audiences, I'd be okay with a remake if it was tastefully done and if they didn't completely change the tone of it.

I agree, KRULL could definitely be improved upon in a remake. I'd rather they remake films like KRULL than redo other 80's sci-fi/fantasy like BATTLESTAR GALACTICA or EXCALIBUR.

How about ZARDOZ? I love the original, but nobody really knows about that one either. Maybe audiences are finally ready for a 3D version of it?

I think that Hardware was done well enough the first time that a remake would be extra-superfluous...

...and the idea of a 3-D Zardoz is making my brainstem spasm...

I'm thinking if they remade Hardware, that it would only need better effects but with the same style and atmosphere. It is actually a contained thriller (like Buried, Panic Room, or Rear Window), so it would be pretty cheap besides the effects for MARK 13.

Of course, I won't lose any sleep if Hardware is never remade. Although, I'd love to see what David Fincher could do with it.

I can just see the shot of guns spewing forth at the audience from the mouth of the floating Zardoz head in 3D. Maybe Zardoz would be a good project for the Wachowski Bros. after Speed Racer not being such a big hit?
