Yet another 16:9 export question.

"Generated media"?

Help a brother out.

Are you recommending that I change the properties in the current project or leave it alone and manipulate everything with Pan/Crop and render to widescreen?

Thanks for your help.

Generated media -- anything you get from the Media Generator. Text, solid colors, gradients, etc..

You will need to make sure that everything 4:3 is cropped, else it will end up with wide black bars on the sides when you render to widescreen.

Hi David - regarding "cropping" 4:3 footage to 16:9 format, I have also achieved this by using "Track Motion" on an entire video track to manually crop the footage into a 16:9 sized frame. I did that specifically because I didn't want to go through and apply pan/crop to each individual event.

Are there any negatives to this method (i.e. slower rendering / lower quality output), or is it just as effective as using event-based pan/crop?

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure you can't use track motion to crop. You can make the track 16:9, but everything will just be squashed and not cropped.

If you're getting good results, do you mind posting some grabs and a descriptions of exactly what you're doing?

Now what if i want to export my 4:3 footage to the web into 16x9 but WITHOUT the black bars on top and bottom. Basically cropping the 4:3 footage with the media player. Not sure what kind of project settings/render settings i should have for that.
