Yay therapy

So starting therapy next tuesday. I've had to walk away from pretty much every facet of my normal (non-artistic) life due to stress. Eating well and exercising regularly, but I've got some other stuff going on, I think. I saw therapists all while I was growing up and they even had me committed for a while when I was in 8th grade, but this is a little less aggressive. I think this is just being a certain age and spending too many years involved with too much money and gargantuan decisions and non-stop demands from clients and owners. That's all behind me now, though -- so now I have to figure out what the heck I'm going to do with the rest of my normal life.

Anyway, starting therapy for stress management and also to hopefully set me on the right path of accountability (which is one of the more difficult challenges for the aimless person, I think). I'm still shooting my film and have started working on a new novel, so everything in that arena is good; relationships are all good...something is just pressing my brain into intense hyper-focusing and I need to find a way to start coming out of that.

So yeah, first time ever going to therapy voluntarily. I asked my wife to get me a girl because I think it's easier to be vulnerable (and honest) talking with a female, so I got Emily. Usually my wife or my best friend have to help talk me through all my bizarreness, so hopefully this will give them a break as well.

Anyone else in therapy?

I'm guessing your still relatively young, whatever that means.

I went to a shrink once in my 20's and 2 different people talked to me and said I was okay. Boy, were they wrong, lol.
My cousin is also a retired head nurse of a major psychtriatric hospital in Britain and he said I was fine ( when he was over on vacation and chatting about stuff.) Boy, was he wrong, lol.

Seriously though, it's pretty normal to feel like your going off the rails sometimes and sometimes you are. Seeking some feedback from someone you respect shows to me that you want to deal with it. It's the ones who don't want to deal with it that have a harder time in life I think.
