Yay, I'm ready to buy my new computer!

Looks like a sweet machine, all that.
Couple of things: for an NLE, that graphics card is WAY more than you'd need. Not saying it isn't good, but it might be a little overkill, especially at 300 bucks.
A good MAIN hard drive is a RAPTOR (WD); use it as a drive for the OS, and possibly the programs files, and run the other drives as your 'data' drives.
Oh, and since you're already okay with spending $2k, you might want to head over to http://apple.com, and see what they have to offer!

All good.

Have you seen my sig? So far in 2 weeks, even though I'm a full time student and have a part time job, I was still able to log 50+ hours on Counterstrike. lol

Thanks for the other advice though.

Ah, I see.
I'm guessing COUNTERSTRIKE is a game? I see now you did mention 'games' in your message; sorry I missed that the first time I read it.
So, yeah, I can see why you'd want a fancy graphics card then....although, do you REALLY want to run games off the same computer as your NLE? I guess that would be okay if you don't use the NLE much, otherwise, consider separating those two "tasks" out.

All good.

You're going to use it for gaming? 6800 with 16 PixelPipelines? Dude, you're going to be so happy with that machine. I recently bought an ATI X800 Pro 256 MB card and I'm running Doom3 at 60fps, 1280 res, all the bells and whistles set to full. Yeah, you'll be pleased with gaming performance. Btw, I have an AMD Athlon 64-FX51, 2 gig RAM, Raptor HDDs. The only advice I have for you is to put a seatbelt on your computer chair. :)

lol, Yea counterstrike is an fps(first-person shooter) game. I've also thought about what you mentioned as well. I figured I'd use my money so I could get a little bit of both. But eventually in the future I do plan to have a separate NLE dedicated system.

There's nothing wrong with using your system to run both games, an NLE, databases, blah blah blah. Be happy, DJ, you'll be rockin'.
