Yep, put some bling on my girl. We traveresed a bunch of snow and scary blocks of ice to get out onto this pier over-looking Chicago just across the street from our house. I wanted to go someplace that either of us can go to whenever we feel like it. Plus it's just one of my favorite spots to chill in the summertime.

It was too awesome, though. We're navigating this slick bit of snowy ground when she spots this fist-sized piece of ice that is like the clearest ice I've ever seen. She bends down and picks it up and says all sarcastically, "Will you marry me?" and I just roll my eyes and take the block of ice and throw it into the water and she watches it go and when she turns back I'm on my knee with the ring out and I'm all "Will you marry ME?" I'd wanted to go out a little further on the pier, but it was too cheesy not to pass up.

Good times. Cool, sexy, sweet good woman who supports me in everything I do. I think her patience and good heartedness is only matched by my own.

There's like a cool kind of peacefulness all over me. Great things.

Wow! I'm not a jewelry-wearing bling focused type of woman, but that is an incredibly beautifully designed ring there! And you are right, the moment you describe does sound too cheesy-perfect to pass up. LOL! Congratulations to you both!

Awesome dialog. I don't really want to get on a knee and ask and all that, but such an opportunity would be worth it.

Yeah, we both think a lot of getting married is too traditional to be personal. Like she doesn't want to have a wedding with a bunch of people or be all weird. But in the moment I thought taking a knee was fine.

The really gag-me thing IMO was that it was on Valentine's Day. It feels silly to say it was a coincidence, but it really kind of was. I decided yesterday that today should be the day, and then I'm like, "Oh god, it's Valentine's Day. That's so friggin lame." But I didn't feel like I should wait because some pseudo-holiday was happening, ya know? We don't even do Valentine's Day traditionally. This year we just got each other the box set of the Angel series. lol

But whatever. Maybe it's so cliche it's okay again.
