hey guys.

im sure alot of other people out there do the same as i do, and basically buy most of the dvd's i own because of the great behind the scenes and extra features featured with the purchase of the dvd.

What are some of your favorite and most inspiring/resourceful dvd with their bonus features?

mine, definately lord of the rings, Narnia is pretty nice too.

well, i don't suppose i can be faulted for alittle shameless self-promotion since I produce and edit these things for a living. recently i worked on two pieces that meant quite a lot to me. first on the DVD for Stay, is a short doc I made on near death experiences titled "Departing Visions". check it out it has nothing to do with the movie other than being thematically related.

second is a piece on Ken Annakin, one of the directors of The Longest Day. he's 90 years old now and proved to be a charming, sweet guy with great stories. likely being the last person to tell his story means a lot to me. that piece is called "A Day to Remember: A Conversation with Ken Annakin" and will be on the DVD for The Longest Day that comes out on May 23rd.

The documentay on American Zoetrope on disc 2 of the THX-1138 DVD is fantastic.

The Commentary is also very kick ass on it. There is also Lucas' student film on which the movie is based on. that was cool to see.

Since my recommendation was so popular, I'll also add that the making of stuff on Richard Donner's Superman is a great watch as well. :)

I like the extra features on Robert Rodriguez's movies more than the movies themselves. I find his extras to be inspiring to the independent filmmaker. With the exception of Sin City, his movies are mediocre at best but his extras are interesting, inspiring and informative.

Rob Zombie went above and beyond with Devils Rejects bonus material, But for every GIVING director there is the lamo bastard IE. chapter selection, with............ ANIMATION and MUSIC!!!!!

I love when DVD's list "interactive menus" and "Chapter Selection" as features.

My all time favorite is the extended editions of LOTR, and along with that, PJ's production diaries for Kong are fantastic as well. I really like the stuff on the History of Violence disc, as well as the stuff on Wes Anderson's films.

Casablanca has this documentary called "Bacall on Bogart" which is phenominal.

The special feautures on Requiem For a Dream is amazing. There's about a 45 minute interview with the Writer Hubert Selby Jr. which was very sad, and also there's a tutorial how they did that amazing sequence where Sarah(Ellen Burstyn) cleans that room.

Is has alot of amazing extras. Check it out when you guys get a chance.

The best thing about the House of 1000 Corpses DVD was Sid Haig criticizing the viewer.

The first cool DVD I owned (1999?) was Taxi Driver with the commentary and the interactive script.
