Xtender Hot Shoe Rail Clamps

My good friend Shawn Dennison at Xtender has created some really nice 15mm rod clamps. We were hanging out one day and talking shop about his products and I said it would be great to have a hot shoe clamp. Well look what that did! We tried them out yesterday and they work great!

A side note, Shawn helped me strip down a indieslider Pro we took the base plate off and drilled and tapped two 1/4 20 holes in the rail so I can attach it to a quick release system. Works perfect and much lighter now.
We shot a little test video for his new clamps with a 7D and Canon 100mm macro with the modified slider. Lens was to long but it looked really good. Sliding and focusing was a bit hard to keep it steady. Should have used a 50mm but its all good!

the rod clamp is sweet but the price is too much. im an aerospace engineer , i know these things cost pennies to make.

Thanks for the compliment. I really think we made a great addition to the XTENDER product line. I did everything I could to get the price right on par with the competitors. Making a product here in the states is not an inexpensive proposition. Between engineering, machining, anodizing, engraving, marketing, testing, dealer discounts, etc... I hardly make a profit. Sure I could make my product in China but I would never have the quality control and hands on that I do now. I'm able to go over to my machine shop every week and check on the quality of each product. Every item we make is hand assembled and tested before it goes out. If I could get the costs down I would but I can tell you that I believe in every product I make and I back it with a really good warranty.

your product is beautiful except the problem is that people are going to go for known brand names like red rock , zacuto , cinevate etc.... before they look at yours because you are in their price range.

i do film stuff as a hobby , making Jet Engine parts is my real profession so I know whats involved , how much material costs , how to use millers , cnc vertical lathes , etc..

other than that , keep up the good work. i saved your website on my vender list :)

I can only hope to be as big as them someday. We all have to start somewhere. If your at the NAB show this year please come by booth #C3341and say hi.

As much as i would like to be there at NAB im going to be missing it , spring is here and i would like to get the boat modded up and in the water in a 2-3 weeks.

Also , i was thinking the yesterday that since companies like red rock , shoot35 , jag35 has sorta signaturised their products with a certain anodising color and your did as well using grey , brand out your whole line by doing all the colors that way if someone that has red rock gear wants ur style clamp they wont stop think once that it wont look good on their rig.

I believe if you appreciate all aspects of your rig build camera setup than youll be more confident in your shooting and like shooting , well thats how i feel as a hobbiest.

man.... if you and indisystem brain stormed together we would see some super insane gear!!!
