..dont do it. even if you get the software to run decently, your going to hava a heck of a time with any plugins, other software, and standard or additional hardware that youd like to use.

Thanks, will just take your word for it ccause I played plenty with previous trial versions to no avail.

What a let down ,, MS has really droped the ball cause even Vista is nothing unless you do a total make-over of your PC ... Oh well, it's no surprise ...

Thank you again
joe

PS ,,, love your web-page BTW,,, very clean n neat, tastefully done... good luck

Ive been running premiere pro 2.0 n a 64bit windows. The problem I find from it is that I can't export flash or quicktime compressed codecs becasue of apples lack of support for 64bit quicktime. I can play quicktime (32bit) on 64 bit windows but as mentioned before when trying to use a 32 bit plugin-in in a 64bit program there is no support

I am running XP64 with PPro 2 and 3 and have no problems. Where you run into 32/64 issues on XP64 is with system level drivers and 64bit applications. If you are running a 32bit application, you should not have many problems at all; as the system runs all that in 32bit mode (this is a seamless process). QuickTime will work with all of your 32bit applications, including Premiere. Where I run into problems, is running 3ds max 9 64bit. I cannot save to QuickTime files, nor do I have access to many of the AVI codecs. This and none of my 32bit plugins for 3ds max work with the 64bit version.

All in all, this workflow has serviced my needs very well. Even Raylight works well for Panasonic MXF files, though I cannot run the P2 viewer because it uses a 32bit driver to function. The great thing about 64bit XP is that all of your 32bit applications can access a full 4GB of RAM whereas on Win 32, your application can only access 2GB (or 3GB if you use the boot.ini switch). I hope this helps.

Sorry, don't mean to hijack the thread - but if I understand correctly, this "boot.ini switch" is not available on XP home edition, correct? Just Pro as well as some of the server editions?

I recently bought PPro CS3 and am building a new system. I really don't want to move to Vista, nor XP64 if I don't have to. I WOULD however, like to use as much RAM as possible. If I can squeeze 3GB out of XP(32), I'll go that route.

Thanks.
